Load Shedding

This is a new term we have recently learned in South Africa. There is a huge shortage of electricity in the country, here is why - the Government wanted more people to access electricity so they told Eskom (power suppliers) to stop working on building and maintaining power stations and to concentrate on getting power to the people who didn't already have access to it. Now there is a greater output of power but supplies have not been increased. The Government have realized their short sightedness, apologized and given the go ahead for work on power stations to continue.
But the effect remains and we are experiencing the realities of "load shedding".
This is the label given to scheduled power outages. Power is cut off by block for two hours at a time which means that every home or business has at leat one two hour power outage per week. This is devasting for businesses, especially the smaller ones. I was listening to our local talk radio today and small business owners were phoning in in telling of business loss. One lady was a permenent make up artist and she said that she has tremendous problems when the power goes out. If she is working on a client and the power goes out the client ends up with haly a permanent eyeliner. Imagine being in the dentist's chair getting a tooth filled and the power goes off while the dentist is drilling....?

We were in a restaurant on Saturday night and the power was out. We waited a while and it came on after 45 min - it had been out for 2 hours.

But here's the thing. This is not a short term problem. It is going to take 10 years or more to fix.

An Attitude of Gratitude

If you want to do well in your business you must not approach it lusting only after the money you will receive, being greedy trying to get rich quick. This will never work. You may make the money but you probably will not keep it for very long.

On the other hand if you approach your business with an attitude of being grateful for what you have you will be open to receive more.

Another thing which will go a long way to bring you abundance in your business is to approach it with the attitude of helping others first and foremost.

I have a business Earn 10K-A-Week which my business mentor is helping me to build. Through
his long suffering, patience and helpful ways he has build his business to over 100 in one year.

African Friends

Rotten Tomatoes

I was searching for a movie review and found a site called Rotten Tomatoes. What I found interesting is that at the end of the review they mention the mistakes that were found in the movie. I have sometimes seen mistakes in movies and found it rather amusing.
The link for Rotten Tomatoes is: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/
I also found listed More Mistakes at http://www.moviemistakes.com/

Rain....rain....rain....

We have been having some unusually wet weather here in Johannesburg.
We normally have short heavy thunderstorms in the afternoons but it seems that with global weather patterns changing we're not excluded. So we have been experiencing days of soft soaking rain which is good for the farmers but bad for the sportsmen.

Here is a beautiful picture of a rainbow which was taken my my son Mathhew.

He also has a blog, so if you're interested, here is his link:

Some of My Favourite Quotations from the Bible

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 7:7

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:24

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Galatians 6:7

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

Proverbs23:7

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John3:16

Work...work...work....

Because I have decided that this is the year of my Financial Freedom I have really working hard.

Unfortunately I can't work as many hours as I would like because I am educating Matthew at home. It is really fun, we have a good time together and he much further advanced than his peers who attend public and private schools.

So my working hours are generally from 2-5pm and then from 8-12pm.

Between 5pm and 8pm I fix dinner, help Matthew with his bath. If there is time we read a story and then it is bed.

This is Africa now....

Kenya has always been a relatively peaceful country until recently when the presidential election results were disputed.

NAIROBI, Kenya - Police used tear gas, water cannons and batons Thursday to block thousands of people from protesting Kenya's disputed election amid a political deadlock between the president and his chief rival. Kenya's attorney general said there should be an independent probe of the election results because of the perception the Dec. 27 vote was rigged. The U.S. and Europe pushed for reconciliation, saying a "made-in-Kenya solution" was needed to end violence that has killed about 300 people since President Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner. As the diplomats discussed unity, Kenya's slums burned."War is happening here," said 45-year-old Edwin Mukathia, who was among thousands of people who poured out of Nairobi's slums to heed opposition candidate Raila Odinga's call for a million-man march in the city's Uhuru Park.

On New Year's Day 1 January 2008 a church was torched and 50 were killed.
Read about it and more here:

I am very concerned about the situation because a very good friend of mine who is Kenyan went home to Kenya for the holidays with her twin babies and she is still there. I pray for them often.

What I did today....

I have decided that this year my business will prosper beyond my wildest dreams so I have been doing some reflecting on lat year to see what my mistakes were and planning to avoid those mistakes. I realized that my biggest problems last year were inconsistency, procrastination and distraction.

I am drawing up a plan which will help me to be efficient, consistent and persistent. I plan to assess my progress at the end of each week and improve my weak ares and change what I have done wrong.

I hope my mistakes and plans will help business owners who read this, whether your business is online or offline.

I have a mentor who is an example to many. He has consistently and patiently worked his business and towards the end of 2007 he had 100 team members. I am proud to be one of them.

Take a look at our team website:

That's it for today!

I will use this blog to talk about anything.......it could be a place I have visited, a movie I've see, a book I've read. It could also be about my business...maybe even someone else's business. I might tell you about interesting press releases I have seen. I might even find some freebies to offer.
On these pages anything goes!
